Having grown up and gone to school in Bangladesh, Mr. Chowdhury completed his higher education in 2012, graduating with honors in Political Science & Sociology from University of Toronto, Canada.
After graduating, Mr. Chowdhury qualified and was recognized by Canadian International Freight Forwarders Association (CIFFA) as a Freight Forwarder (in April 2014) with specialization in Supply Chain Management and International Trade & Transportation.
His expertise and knowledge in the Logistics sector and innovating with creative end to end solutions for the trade, has blended well with Karnaphuli’s established and extensive footprint in the Bangladesh shipping scene. This has in turn led to Karnaphuli expanding into the air cargo airline business as well being the only owner of a containerized fleet of Bangladesh Flag Vessels
Other than developing synergies and enhanced coordination amongst the various verticals within Karnaphuli, Mr. Chowdhury is also responsible for identifying new business opportunities and segments for the Group to venture into.
He is an active member of Bangladesh Ocean Going Ship Owners Association (BOGSOA), promoting and safeguarding the interests of Bangladesh’s Shipping Community, and at the same time realizing the potential of Bangladesh as a maritime nation.
Mr. Chowdhury is very passionate about the marine world and environmental issues. He volunteers as a research and policy resource for Chairman of Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Environment, Forrest, and Climate Change.

Ms. Raimah Chowdhury
After completing the renowned International Baccalaureate curriculum and graduating with Honors in May 2010, Ms. Chowdhury pursued her undergraduate studies at the University of Toronto. She completed a double major in Political Science and Religion and graduated with Honors in 2014.
After successfully pursuing a Certification of Business Management from the University of Toronto, Continuing Studies, she joined the family-owned business, Karnaphuli Group in 2015.
Currently, Ms. Chowdhury is responsible for strategic growth and development of the Group's activities in new areas (such as Retail in partnership with brands such as Skechers, US Polo, W etc.) as well as stream-lining of existing areas of operation in context of implementation and oversight of annual operating plans.
Ms. Chowdhury launched the Bangladesh China Foundation for Future, the first of its kind, in August 2016. The Foundation is a youth-based platform for students, young adults and working professionals promoting connectivity and exchange between the two nations. This initiative is recognized and assisted by the Embassy of People's Republic of China in Bangladesh.
Ms. Chowdhury is the Founder President of Bangladesh Chapter of Women’s International Shipping and Trading Association (WISTA). Formed in 1974, WISTA is a global organisation connecting female executives and decision-makers around the world and serves as a connector for its network of more than 3,800 female professionals from all sectors of the maritime industry.

Mr. Araj Chowdhury
Mr. Chowdhury pursued his higher education in Toronto where he completed a certification in Human Resources Management from George Brown College. He went on to pursue his undergraduate studies at York University where he specialized in Economics.
After moving back to Bangladesh in 2021, he joined the family business here at Karnaphuli Group overlooking all of the different business lines with a focus on the automobile sector.
Mr. Chowdhury has an active interest in bringing new sustainable initiatives here at Karnaphuli and continues to work towards finding new opportunities and building strategies for new ventures in recycling and renewable energy.
